郭佳副教授简介

Jia GUO is currently an associate professor of Department of Agricultural and Environmental Engineering at Kyoto University. She was previously with International Research Institute of Disaster Science at Tohoku University, Japan. She received her B.S. and M.Sc. from Tsinghua University and Ph.D. from Kyoto University. She is an awardee of the Young Researcher Award by IRIDeS and the PhD Thesis Award by JSCES. She is the member of AIJ, JSCES and JAEE. Her research interests include new techniques in modelling and identification of dynamic systems and data-driven computing methods for structures, soil and fluids, with the goal of contributing to disaster prevention and mitigation. These research topics straddle computational mechanics and engineering science, combined with knowledge of Bayesian Inference, artificial Intelligence, as well as Smart Sensing technologies.

报告摘要

Japan is one of the countries that has been greatly affected by coastal and marine disasters. The devastating 2011 Mw 9.0 Great East Japan Earthquake triggered a series of tsunamis, leading to the loss of thousands of lives in the coastal areas of northeastern Japan. Here, we present a framework for combination of physics-based and data-driven modeling for the purpose of costal and marine disaster prevention and mitigation. So far, the framework has been applied to problems in solid and fluid mechanics including the fluid-particle flow simulation for submarine landslides and uncertainty quantification in tsunami prediction. These applications demonstrate its potential in building resilient societies. Recent developments and concerning in the field of disaster science in Japan will also be briefly discussed.
